Grief and Loss
“When you lose someone you love,
Your life becomes strange,
The ground beneath you becomes fragile,
Your thoughts make your eyes unsure…
And some dead echo drags your voice down. ”
-John O’ Donohue
The grief process can happen with any significant loss – the death of a family member, a friend, a pet. Even the loss of a job or the breakdown of a marriage can call us to a healing process of grief and mourning.
Each of us grieves in our own way and in our own time. There is no “normal” process of grief. Although there are some commonalities in the grief process, humans are unique and therefore how this journey unfolds will be different for each one of us.
Grief is a significant life event that often needs more than friends, family, or even spiritual advisors can offer. A therapist can listen to your story and help you weave the experience of loss into the narrative of your life and take you to the very heart of Life itself.
